Healthy eating is very important in to maintain the proper weight, stay energized and keep our mind functioning to its maximum capability.  Here are some tips to help you get on the straight road to healthy eating.<br />
1.  Keep your foods as close to natural as possible.  That doesn&#8217;t just mean get your foods as fresh as possible.  Many foods are grown or colored with the help of chemicals that are not healthy.  Organic foods are as close to natural as you can get without simply growing your own food.<br />
2.  One very important tip to remember when considering a new diet or just trying to eat healthier is &#8220;everything in moderation. &#8221; This applies to sweets, but also to healthier foods, such as fruits, vegetables, grains, meats and dairy products.  All of the basic food groups are necessary to maintain a healthy lifestyle.  The complete elimination of one food group may produce a desired effect in the short term, but it is not healthy in the long run.<br />
3.  A very effective and easy way to quickly judge the nutritional value of a food item is to simply read the label that lists the ingredients.  This seems obvious, but so many of us fail to do it on a regular basis.  A general rule of thumb is that if you cannot pronounce the ingredient, it probably isn&#8217;t good for you.  Be cautious about eating foods that contain a lot of preservative chemicals that you cannot pronounce.<br />
4.  Whenever possible, choose whole grain foods over processed foods.  Processed foods go through a rigorous process that often deprives them of their original nutrients.  Many times, additional nutrients are artificially added as an attempt to gain the original nutrition value of the food.  Nature does a better job at creating nutrients than man does.  Choosing whole wheat flour, noodles and brown rice over their processed counterparts can do a lot in helping you achieve maximum health.<br />
5.  The last, and most obvious, tip to get and stay healthy is to limit your sugar intake.  Everyone knows that excessive amounts of junk food can cause tooth decay and extra weight.  However, carbohydrates, such as potatoes and bread, are also converted to sugar by your body.  Many vegetables and fruits, such as carrots and bananas, also contain high amounts of sugar.  Excess sugar in your body can lead to problems, such as yeast infection, impotence, constipation or fatigue.  <br/><br/><!-- pingbacker_start --><br />

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Eating healthy will help you feel great and have lots of energy so you can enjoy life more and have a strong immune system.  Many people often tend to doubt and question the importance of eating healthy because they seemed to be ok with eating unhealthy their whole lives.  But eating healthy is always great for your body especially when it comes to the prevention of heart disease by maintaining good heart health.  If you are serious about eating healthy, then you need to become more educated about the foods you eat and the nutrients they contain.<br />
When it comes to eating healthy, many people tend to make poor decisions such as having some ice cream and a slice of piece on an occasion.  But these bad habits tend to add up those calories while also leading to not so good health.  There are ways to keep watch over what we actually put into our mouths, and with some hard work, your job of eating healthy can become much easier.  Eating healthy in your home will eventually rub off on those loved ones who may be harder to convince.<br />
Healthy eating is an opportunity to try many new and wonderful foods or different vegetables, fruits, and other grains that you would not normally eat.  Research has shown that following a healthy eating plan can do two things: lower high blood pressure and reduce the risk of developing it.  Having a well balanced diet will help your kids grow up strong and healthy too.  Children that sit down with their families for meals are also more likely to eat fruits, vegetables, and grains with less likelihood of snacking on unhealthy foods.<br />
The most obvious health threat of eating too much fast food is excessive weight gain.  Eating healthy does not have to mean that you can&#8217;t enjoy the food you love and simply having to eat foods that are unappealing.  Eating healthy does mean to stay away from such foods as candy, cookies, pastries, and cakes.  Results of many studies have shown that by eating fruits, vegetables, and low fat dairy will help to reduce elevated blood pressure.<br />
Making healthy meals is easy and can be done by using more raw foods such as salads, vegetable juices, choosing sandwiches with whole grain bread, and using low-fat products.  You can easily reduce the amount of fat you eat by choosing fewer high-fat foods while cooking with less fat.  Make that health choice today and your body and family will thank you for it! <br/><br/><!-- pingbacker_start --><br />

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>You&#8217;re having a salad for lunch, you&#8217;re steaming your veggies, you&#8217;re counting calories; carbs and fat, you&#8217;ve even cut processed sugars from your diet. . . GREAT. . . but are you really eating healthy? Probably not. . .  most if not all of your vegetables and fruits are treated with pesticides.  Unless you are currently eating organic or all natural foods, you ARE ingesting pesticides.  <br/><br/>Pesticides (all pesticides) create harmful risks. . . just by the nature of what a pesticide is and what it&#8217;s supposed to do, you automatically know it&#8217;s harmful to humans, animals and our environment.  Pesticides are designed to &#8220;kill&#8221;, not that they are intended to kill people or animals, but they are created to affect living organisms. . . and what are we??? <br/><br/>Did you know that pesticides could cause a variety of cancers? According to the Environmental Health Perspectives (www. ehponline. org) leukemia, neuroblastoma, Wilms&#8217; tumor, soft-tissue sarcoma, Ewing&#8217;s sarcoma, non-Hodgkin&#8217;s lymphoma, and cancers of the brain, colorectum, and testes have been linked to pesticide exposure. . . pesticides can also cause neurological problems and interfere with a child&#8217;s development? Every time you eat pesticides, you&#8217;re poisoning your body, the bodies of your family members and even your unborn children. . . pesticides can cause low birth rates and increase the chance of birth defects.  Children are more sensitive to pesticides than adults.  You may want to check out what the EPA has to say about pesticides. . . the facts and statistics are unnerving.  <br/><br/>When we shop for our food we settle for ease over education. . . with so many things to choose from, we often go for convenience and cost without thinking about or realizing what the alternatives and consequences really are.  <br/><br/>Our food is being shipped from all over the world. . . we&#8217;re not only getting our foods shipped in from across our own Country, we&#8217;re getting fruits and vegetables shipped to us from other Countries (yes, I said other Countries).  So not only do we need to worry about where these foods are grown, but we need to worry about how they are grown, what they were fertilized with and what pesticides are being used and who is regulating the pesticides in these other Countries? Pesticides found on produce don&#8217;t necessarily mean there were excessive pesticides used, but persistent residues in the soil or wind dispersal of pesticides from nearby fields need to be taken into account as well.  This information needs to give all us a lot to think about, but it also needs to make us more aware of our options.  <br/><br/>Washing and peeling your vegetables and fruits does NOT ensure you&#8217;re eating a pesticide free product.  Some pesticides can seep into the flesh of the food and some pesticides are made to &#8220;stick&#8221; to the food to avoid being washed away by rain, so a quick rinse under the faucet cannot and will not remove them.  So even if you&#8217;re taking precautions, there are some vegetables and fruits higher in pesticide residue than others. . . washed or not. . . such as fresh peaches, fresh and frozen winter squash, fresh green beans, apples, and pears. . . so what exactly are you eating??? <br/><br/>Eating organic and natural foods may seem overpriced and inconvenient, but you don&#8217;t always have to go to a health food store to find pesticide free foods that are affordable and still organic or natural.  A couple of ways you can do this is to find your local farmers market or food shed where &#8220;local&#8221; organic and natural foods are grown and where the overhead isn&#8217;t as high as the health food stores.  There are affordable ways to eating pesticide free while supporting your local growers and knowing where your food comes from.  Shopping and eating locally grown and raised food not only benefits you, but it helps to preserve your communities, your economy, your environment and most of all your health and the health of your family and friends.  <br/><br/>If you grow your own fruits and veggies, you still need to be aware of the risks of using pesticides in your own garden. . . a pesticide is a poison regardless.  Growing a worry free garden may not seem possible, but it is.  There are lots of &#8220;organic&#8221; and &#8220;natural&#8221; pest control recipes you can mix up in your own kitchen.  I found some great organic pest control recipes online.  <br/><br/>Keeping sweets, trans fats, preservatives and processed foods out of your diet is a great first step to good health. . . but the number one thing you need to keep out of your diet is pesticides. . .  <br/><br/><!-- pingbacker_start --><br />
